Three major questions to consider when hiring a guest speaker for anything from private meetings to Keynotes on a grander stage are:
1 – Will the speaker be difficult to work with?
When hiring Kenny Atcheson, there is nothing to worry about. Having only green M&Ms listed in the rider for the guest speaker shouldn’t be one of your concerns. Kenny is easy to work with. He considers himself part of the success team when it comes to your event. There will be no last minute surprises or demands. Kenny will do whatever he can to make your event a success in addition to taking away some of the stress associated with unexpected situations planners may encounter with others.
2 – Will the speaker show up on time and end on time?
If Kenny shows up right on time, he’s late. That’s Kenny’s mantra. He will be at your event early so that he can familiarize himself with the room, test audio/video equipment when necessary, and discuss with the planner any unexpected, last minute surprises that may have occurred. Kenny brings his own timer to set on a podium or table to make sure he ends on schedule.
3 – Will you get the value you deserve?
Kenny’s goal is to contribute to your event’s success in the short-term and most especially for long-term. There is a glaring problem at most events; a speaker can give a rousing 60 to 90-minute session that amps everyone up, but even if it was of the magnitude that warranted a standing ovation, attendees’ excitement and learning fades quickly. It’s like a tire with a leak. The speaker pumps it up real big, but the leak slowly lets the air out until it is flat again.
Kenny believes that when an audience gets pumped up but leave without compelling learning, motivated ignorance is the result. Kenny avoids motivated ignorance using three primary methods:
Learning – Give the audience actionable ideas and new strategies to implement right away.
Retention – Kenny’s style of speaking includes storytelling, physical props, fun, and interaction (when applicable) which sets audiences up to remember what they learned and how to implement new discoveries.
Follow up – Because attendees can still fail to take action on what they have learned, Kenny created an original system to benefit participants during his Las Vegas Keynote events and every event where he speaks; dubbed the Audience Advantage and Action System (AAAS), it will enhance the effectiveness of your event.
